Thu 3 May @ 8pm Sunshine Coast Blues Club Royal
George Hotel Currie St Nambour 1st Thursday of the month Since the first meeting at the Royal George Hotel in Feb 06 , the Sunshine Coast Blues Club has provided members & visitors with a simple & successful
recipe. The regular audience is always there by 8pm to see the Blues Club “House Band” start the night with a set of blues favourites. Al Hensley (piano) & Bob Lee (double bass) enjoy the opportunity to present
some lesser known & seldom performed blues to a receptive audience. Al’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the blues, plus his willingness to share his knowledge, makes each performance an education for club members. The house
band is rounded out with Aaron Giffin on guitar, Joanne Lee on drums & Fabio Brecciaroli joining in on blues harp. The Nambour Blues Club has quietly established itself as a welcome event on the first Thursday of each
month. The combination of dependable quality music from the house band & the regular performers, plus the unexpected & surprising contributions from guest jammers, makes for a great night of Blues in Nambour.

May The Australian Body Art Carnivale 2012 Theme: Under the Sea Various venues in Eumundi
Don’t miss this crazy, colourful weekend! The 2012 Australian Body Art Carnivale will be taking
place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 May.
Australia’s premier body art event, the Carnivale is a colourful and creative festival experience for
all ages, and is FREE for members of the public.
The Australian Body Art Carnivale is held annually in the artistic Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Eumundi,
only 15 minutes from Noosa and around an hour north of Brisbane.
Event Manager Danielle Taylor says the event is nothing short of a ‘A Festival of Colour’ centred
around body art in its many and varied forms.
“As the name suggests, the Australian Body Art Carnivale certainly has a strong focus on body art in
its many and varied forms – from the more readily seen face painting right through to full body painting in the categories of brush and sponge, airbrush and special effects,” she says.
“For members of the public, it’s an event like nothing you’ve seen before to watch the
human canvases take shape during the competitions,” she says.
“While we will have experienced body and make-up artists competing, body art experience is not a
prerequisite,” says Danielle. “Many entrants in previous Carnivales had never before painted on a body – they simply used their artistic flair to work on a very different canvas … the human
body!”
And it’s not just body art competitions. The Carnivale will also host competitions and exhibitions in:
- Wearable Art
(fabulous fashion made from recycled treasures)
- Vehicle Body Art – a Show & Shine comp for
those with vehicles already painted, along with a Car Bonnet Art comp where artists paint a car bonnet
- Photography (photo print + digital categories)
The competition theme for this year is "Under the Sea", providing an absolute wealth of inspiration
for artists as they compete for over $12,000 in cash and prizes.
The Carnivale will also see world-class street performers, buskers and bands, craft workshops, a Saturday
Night Gala Event at Fig Tree Restaurant (ticketed) and a whole lot more.
Visit www.australianbodyart.com.au
for more info, competition registration, sponsorship opportunities and to sign up to receive eNewsletters in the lead-up to the event.

Sat 19 May John Waters Looking through a Glass Onion UP CLOSE & PERSONAL, WHERE IT ALL BEGAN An Intimate
Performance Nambour Civic Centre 8pm In 1992, John Waters and Stewart D’Arrietta took to the small stage at the Tilbury Hotel, Woolloomooloo, Sydney with their debut production of Looking Through A Glass
Onion. What was an initially a one week booking quickly sold out and extended into a six week, sell out season. Thus the original seed of Looking For A Glass Onion€ť was born.
Fast forward 20 years and after many successful and sold out Glass Onion tours, John and Stewart have decided to return to their up
close and personal intimate 2-man show tour.
John says he wants "to take the show back to its roots. This is a last chance opportunity for regional Australia to see this
show as we’ll be taking it to Broadway in New York in 2013 and are in discussion with Yoko Ono on aspects of the New York shows€ť.
The response the show is receiving has been fantastic, especially from the younger audiences that are coming along, some of whom were
not even born when Lennon and The Beatles were recording and releasing their music, it’s a testament to the legacy of the man and his music that still excites and intrigues people to this day€ť says Waters.
A homage to the music, mystery and memory of John Lennon.
The show is not a cut-and-paste biography of Lennon or an emulation of the original recordings. On stage, with shadows from the
lighting arrangement fluttering over his face as he explores the essence of the man through song and spoken word, Waters, becomes synonymous with Lennon. He shies away from imitating the artist, but so emotive is his
performance, it lulls the audience into believing anything is possible. It’s part concert and part biography, though it doesn’t seek to tell the full story of Lennon’s life.
For the audience this is either an emotional trip down memory lane or a wonderful introduction to the life and times of one of the
most fascinating icons of our time.
With 31 songs performed including to name a few, A Day in the Life, Strawberry Fields Forever,
Revolution, Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds, Woman, Jealous Guy, Imagine and more, this is a show for all ages. Tickets: Adult $65 Pensioner $60 Student $60 Group 8+ $60 Bookings Ph: 5475 7777 www.nambourciviccentre.com.au
