Performances are on April 4, 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21 at 7.30pm; April 8 and 15 at 2pm; April 4 is Gala Night Opening. Travelling
North By David Williamson Directed by Steven Tandy Noos Arts Theatre Weyba Rd Noosaville
A bittersweet journey into love, tears and laughter
This marvelous play will be the first production in the newly refurbished Noosa Arts Theatre. It is appropriate that this play should be
chosen because it is one of the best loved plays by the patron of Noosa Arts Theatre, David Williamson.
One of its central themes will resonate with those who have "travelled north" to seek a better life in beautiful warm surroundings,
but who still have family obligations which take them away from their cherished retirement retreat. Also ill health can shatter dreams of an easy life. How do we struggle to balance family obligations with personal desires and
should we keep promises when circumstances change?
The main characters Frank and Frances have a twilight love affair and travel north to find a new life together away from burdensome family
obligations. Their escape is short lived when family issues and ill health intrude on their idyll. They also score a pesky over friendly neighbour who pops in to their secluded retreat at any time.
This is David Williamson in top form with sharp, spiky and witty dialogue in abundance and themes that are at the heart of all our lives,
particularly as we get older.
This play is being directed by Steven Tandy who is best known for playing Tom Sullivan in the hit TV series The Sullivans. Steven has
directed many plays in Brisbane and the Gold Coast and performs regularly on stage and screen.
Steven has chosen a very strong cast with Tim Murfin playing Frank and Yvie Somerville playing Frances and with Frank Wilkie, Xanthe Coward,
Stephen Moore, Andree Stark and Julia Verburgt in the other roles.
Enjoy Travelling North in our wonderfully renovated theatre. No more long wash room queues at interval and a refurbished foyer and patio area.
Tickets: Adult $26, Conc $22, Group $20, Child $15; All tickets to Gala Night on 4 April are $50.
Bookings Ph: 5449 9343 or book online at www.noosaartstheatre.org.au or Wed to Sat at theatre 9-12 noon Noosa Arts Theatre Weyba Rd Noosaville
