Thu 30 Sep The Punchline Comedy Club The Best. The Funniest. Direct from the UK Sunshine Coast Function
Centre Caloundra Doors open 7.30pm Seated Show 18+ Australian’s flock to see British Stand Up comedy. The Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney Comedy Festivals are always a sell out and the British shows are
always the first to go, but once the festivals are gone, the comedy scene here is much quieter than in the UK and only a handful of international acts come through. The Punchline Comedy Club will fill this void and become
the only regular British Stand Up comedy show in Australia featuring headlining UK comedians flown in from the world’s largest comedy circuit. The show will be totally unique and being the only such show in the
country, it will enable us to capture a large and regular audience in all the major cities.
Curtis Walker Curtis Walker started in comedy in the late eighties, as half of
the double act Curtis & Ishmail, alongside comic Ishmael Thomas. The pair hosted the second series of the BBC stand-up show Paramount City in 1991 (the first had been hosted by Arthur Smith). He was also in the
cast of BBC 2’s black sketch show The Real McCoy, which started in the same year, and co-hosted Blouse And Skirt with Gina Yashere in 1996. Walker was the voice of Carlton in the CBBC’s children's
comedy series Kerching, has appeared in Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive, The Lenny Henry Show and Ed Stone is Dead and had a role in the 2007 film Mutant Chronicles. As a stand-up, he is a regular on the Jongleurs
circuit and has a one-man show entitled Right Now. According to The Guardian, Curtis ’Moves an audience in a way I’ve never seen a stand-up do before.’ He has been named best male stand-up from Black
Issues In Community Arts and won the awkwardly named Top Carlton TV Multicultural Entertainment & Comedy Award.
Sean Meo Currently one of the most established names on the comedy circuit,
regularly headlining at Jongleurs and The Comedy Store (where he is a member of The Cutting Edge topical comedy team), Sean Meo used to be a full-time snooker player, and was even a quarter finalist in the English Amateur
Championships of 1987.
The Evening Standard and The Guardian Guide find Meo ‘Surreal, sexy...and very, very funny’
and ’deliciously sardonic’ respectively. He was named best stand-up by Time Out in 1997, and has appeared at the Kilkenny, Cork and Montreal Comedy Festivals. He and made his Edinburgh Festival debut in Catch
23 and starred in four TV ads for the Vauxhall Vectra SRI. ES Magazine calls him, ‘Slick, confident patter...can win over the most committed hecklers.’ The Scotsman finds him ‘truly hilarious’
while The Gazette, Montreal considers Meo ’the star of Britcom’ with a dry, sardonic wit that’s as quintessentially English as it is engaging.’ The New Zealand Herald deems Meo act ’Slinky,
sardonic, self-possessed and knowing....a man with the midas touch.’ Tickets: $33 incl. T/Fee Phone 5438 5800 or visit www.sunshinecoastfunctioncentre.com.au
