“Harmony Between Humanity & Living Earth”

Held from 24 September to 9 October 2005 at the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden, Tanawha

A symposium is a gathering of like minds to discuss particular topics. At the Sculpture Symposium as well as discussing art, art was also created.

We watched sculptures emerge from the raw, natural stone as 8 professional sculptors from Australia & around the world, chipped, cut & carved monumental sculptures from tonnes of quality Queensland marble, granite & sandstone. The completed sculptures are now permanent Public Art adding to the intriguing environs of the Botanic Gardens.

‘Everybody needs beauty as well as bread,
places to play & pray in
where nature may heal & cheer
& give strength to body & soul alike’
...John Muir 1901
