Thu 8 May Playing Miss Havisham Nambour Civic Centre Theatre 7.30pm Presented by Queensland Arts Council Charles Dickens’ fascinating character from his 1861 novel Great Expectations, Miss Havisham is the wealthy, wasted, spinster who never recovers from being jilted at the alter. In the novel, she refuses to remove her wedding dress and demands all the clocks to be stopped. Miss Havisham is one of the most famous characters of all time.
Fast forward to modern times, where our main character Claudia struggles within as a discontented mother and wife. When an eccentric Irish filmmaker arrives to make a film of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, Claudia is keen to audition for the role of Miss Havisham seeing it as a way out of her humdrum existence. As she prepares for the role, Claudia finds her own life takes on the twists and turns of a Dickens novel.
A work of unexpected visual richness, Playing Miss Havisham unfolds with humour, mystery, music and surprise. Backed by a stunning musical soundtrack including Bach, Chopin, Schubert, Granados, Debussy & Gareth Farr.

Tue 27 May Rogue Traders Nambour Civic Centre Australia’s favourite electro-pop rockers The Rogue Traders have announced their biggest ever Australian tour for April/May. The band is refreshed and ready to unleash new material from their platinum album ‘Better In The Dark’, plus all the hits from their 2005 smash ‘Here Come The Drums’.
