SCHOOL HOLIDAY FUN!
Mon 5 July @ 6pm
The Wizard of Oz Show

Nambour Civic Centre - Main Hall
Following over 2500 performances internationally, The Wizard of Oz Show arrives on a Queensland Tour of 22 venues these June/July school holidays. Kids can rap with the Tinman, roar like a Lion, wake up sleepy Shakey the Scarecrow and dance with Dorothy in this interactive, new version of America’s best loved fairy tale.
Billed as one of Australia’s top children’s shows, this is no sit-down-and-watch affair – the kids are invited to get involved in these adventures down the Yellow Brick Road and can even come dressed as their favourite Oz characters. Live action is mixed with cartoons on screen, intelligent lighting and catchy tunes!
Honoured as a special invitee to the world’s largest Oz Festival in America, the show drew much praise from Oz “royalty” present. Hollywood celebrity Robert Baum, great grandson of Oz author Frank Baum, said: “If great grandfather was alive, I’m sure he would be clapping, singing along and smiling with your show!”
"I've seen lots of Oz productions but this one was truly extraordinary", said Margaret Pellegrini, one of the last living Munchkins from the 1939 Judy Garland Oz movie, who performed with the cast.
The Wizard of Oz Show is about more than giving kids a good time. It spreads a message of hope and self-esteem to the young. Audience members are also invited to bring along a toy or book to go towards our Children’s Hospital Toy Appeal.

Welcome, my Lords and Ladies, Merchants and Peasants to a very special Abbey Medieval Festival and Tournament. This year is one of excitement and celebration as we hold the 21st Tournament on the 10th & 11th July 2010.
The award-winning festival received the inaugural 2009 Community Event Award by the Moreton Bay Regional Council in January.
The Abbey Museum holds the festival to raise funds to maintain its priceless collections. The Museum would like to acknowledge the support and dedication of the re-enactors and performers that makes the festival possible.

The festival is the largest authentic medieval event in Australia. It spans a thousand years in Europe and the Middle East from the Dark Ages to the High Middle Ages, from AD 600 to 1600.
There is something for all ages at the Tournament. The breath-taking pageantry of the Joust; the courage and skill of knights in armed combats; a new and spectacular Grand Parade with over 500 re-enactors parading from the castle; a Masque Ball, educational talks and exotic food. Wombat Stew

The Events Centre
Theatre
Minchinton St Caloundra
From Garry Ginivan Attractions, Australia’s leading producer of musical theatre for children, and following the highly acclaimed national tour of Possum Magic in 2008 which played in over 40 theatres to more than 80,000 patrons, comes a brand new stage adaptation of another Australian classic.
First published in 1984, WOMBAT STEW is a modern day phenomenon in children’s literature and has sold more than 350,000 copies Australia wide. Written by Marcia K Vaughan, with illustrations by Pamela Lofts, the simple story of a dingo who catches a wombat and decides to make wombat stew, has been cleverly developed into a ’true-blue-dinkydi- big-aussie-musical’ complete with blobs of mud, very fine feathers, creepy crawlies, flies, gum-nuts & a big bubbling billy can!
This new Australian musical has been adapted for the stage by the highly acclaimed team of Gary Young (writer/director) and Paul Keelen (original score). Gary and Paul are highly skilled professionals and have the distinct honour of winning the highly prestigious Pratt Prize for Musical Theatre, not once but twice, including the inaugural prize in 2002 for their musical Sideshow Alley.
