Buderim is renowned as a centre for quality education & learning. It is the educational hub of the Sunshine Coast. In the heart of Buderim’s Main Street, Buderim Mountain State School was the first school to open on the Coast nearly 130 years ago. By contrast, 10 minutes from Buderim at Sippy Downs you’ll find the all-new Chancellor State College. Maroochydore & Mountain Creek Primary & High Schools are both very handy to Buderim, as is Kuluin & Mooloolaba State School. Mountain Creek is also home to The Cooloola Institute of TAFE.
Buderim is fortunate to be surrounded by a large number of quality private schools in picturesque bushland settings: choose from Immanuel Lutheran College, Matthew Flinders Anglican College, Siena Catholic College, Sunshine Coast Grammar School & Suncoast Christian College. The Harmony Montessori Primary & High Schools are located opposite the jewel in the education crown—University of the Sunshine Coast.

History of the Sunshine Coast’s First School
|
|
Buderim Mountain State School was the first school established on the Sunshine Coast in 1875.
Originally located on Panorama Drive before moving to its present site in the heart of Main St Buderim, it began with an enrolment of 18 pupils & gradually increased as new settlers moved to the area.
In 1960 there was a jump in enrolments & by 1980 over 4,000 pupils had passed through the school. Current enrolment is around 1,000 pupils per year & Buderim State School has since been joined by Chancellor State College, Harmony Montessori Schools, 4 private schools & University of the Sunshine Coast, due to the increase of suburban settlement & those relocating to the Sunshine Coast looking for quality educational choices.
