Wed 9, Fri 11, Sat 12, Wed 16, Sat 19, Wed 23, Fri 25, & Sat 26 April @ 7:30pm Matinees: Sat 12, Fri 18, Sat 19, Sun 20, Sat 26 & Sun 27 April @ 2:00pm Les Miserables presented by BATS Theatre Company at The Events Centre, Minchinton Street, Caloundra This international smash-hit may be the most popular musical in the world. In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean is released from 19 years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust & mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life & saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean’s adopted daughter. His world-view shattered, Javert commits suicide, & Valjean at last attains the peace he has sought for so long.
Epic, grand & uplifting, Les Misérables packs an emotional wallop that has thrilled audiences all over the world. The sung-through pop opera is ideal for a cast of exceptional singers & overflows with melodies that are already standards. A spectacle on Broadway & in London, Les Misérables is equally effective with a minimal set; it is its powerful affirmation of the human spirit that has made Les Misérables a popular masterpiece. “Theatre just doesn’t get any better than this” - Miami Herald Tickets: $36.00 Adult, $32.00 Concession, $19.00 Child/Student, $95.00 Family (2 Adult + 2 Children). Fri 11 Apr @ 8pm The Rhythms Of Ireland Back by Popular Demand! Nambour Civic Centre Currie St Nambour
THE RHYTHMS OF IRELAND are the sound and spirit of the Emerald Isle. It is an exhilarating show of perfectly sounded traditional rhythms, song and dance that is the most exciting Irish dance and music production at this present time.
Experience a spectacular evening of traditional Irish dance, music and song enhanced by stunning costumes, lighting and sound. This is indeed, THE RHYTHMS OF IRELAND. Legend, folklore and enchantment are interwoven in a voyage of discovery without falling into the trap of sentimentality. That's not to deny that some passages make the hairs on the nape of the neck rise…the troupe's adaptation echoes the past as the dancers seem to fly across the stage to the beat of the bodhron and the soaring notes of the fiddle.
Great music, dancing and singing by performers of zipping quality and enthusiasm make you want to clap in time. In fact, the haunting sound of the pipes, the energizing sound of the taps, the deep rhythms of the bodhrán and the shrill cry of the fiddle – the best of the Irish experience.
Tickets: Adults $59.90 Pensioner/Senior, Student/Child, Group10+ $49.90 Bookings & more info: Ph: 5475 7777 or visit www.mve.org.au >>
